Family Fun Day

On Saturday, our church held a Family Day at Matsqui Park. The weather was not ideal, but we still had lots of fun!
The outdoor pool there is heated and the water was nice and warm so Ryan and the kids enjoyed a great time in the pool while I was busy snapping pictures.

Besides swimming we also had fun barbecuing, playing at the playground, eating, visiting, playing volleyball/badminton/beachball, and eating some more.
All in all it was a great day!!

Visit with the Labrums

Aaron, Sandi, Colby and Ashley were here last week for a visit and also so Sandi could write her mortgage broker exam. Congratulations Sandi on passing!!
We really enjoyed having them here!

We love our cousins!
We had fun eating together. . .
collecting snails and slugs together. . .

blowing bubbles . . .
tackling Uncle Aaron (sorry about the orientation on this picture. Our computer is having issues right now so I am blogging from Ryan's laptop and my usual methods of rotating pictures are not working). . .

dogpile hugging Grandma. . .
and getting loves from Auntie Sandi and Uncle Aaron.

Thanks for a great visit guys. Come back soon, we miss you already!!

We love science world

There has been lots happening around here lately and I have all kinds of things to blog about but not a lot of time to spend blogging. So I will do a little post about our fun visit to Science World on Thursday and leave the rest for another day.
Here are a few pics of us at science world. Rachel enjoyed touching, listening to, and organizing the shells. Evan got to go on the stage and help with an experiment about blowing up balloons with baking soda and vinegar. Grace like pulling herself up using the pulley seat and Ryan enjoyed science world the way he enjoys many other exciting things - by falling asleep! :) The poor man is so sleep deprived he can fall asleep anywhere. In his defense, we were in a quiet corner where there were comfortable chairs and quiet music playing.

One of the highlights was the "Grossology" exhibit science world has showing right now. It is all about the "gross" parts of our body. There were exhibits about farting, burping, snot, body odour, and much much more! The kids got a real kick out of it and I think it was well done - informative but not over the edge offensive.
Here are some pictures of the kids going in through the giant mouth, down the esophagus slide, into the stomach, through the intestine tunnel and out through the rectum (onto the brown mat - oh dear!)

Patches

Meet the new member of our family - Patches the guinea pig.
Grace got some money for her birthday and she has been saving her allowance and doing extra chores in order to have enough to buy a guinea pig. So yesterday we went and bought a cage and some accessories and set it up in her room. This morning we went and picked out a guinea pig.

Construction Zone

Over the last week, Ryan and his Dad were hard at work making a huge mess in our basement. Just joking - they were actually not just down there making a mess, they were working on some major changes in our basement. They moved the door between the house and the garage to a new place and built a "mud room" where there used to be an unfinished room that we called my craft room but it was really just a storage place to hide all our junk. They also built a wall and a closet to create a room for me to use as a "school room." The school room is yet to be finished but the mud room is complete with new drywall, paint and flooring and it looks great. I haven't taken any "after" pictures yet but I will do that soon.
Here are the pictures of them hard at work.

Thanks Dad!

Sleeping Beauty

Sweet Rachel - she's so into being a princess or a queen lately that she didn't even want to take off her crown for bed! I took it off after I took her picture because I thought it would hurt if she rolled over.
Here's another little Rachel story just for chuckles. Last week I was helping Rachel get her pj's on after her bath and she sat down on my lap and then quickly got up and said "Owie Mommy - your freckles poked me!" I guess it was time to shave my legs - hehehe.
