Tag

I don't usually do this kind of thing but I've been tagged by my friend, Sarah, so here goes.

Here are the rules:

1. Link to the person’s blog who tagged you.

2. Post these rules on your blog.

3. List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself

4. Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.

5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting a comment on their blog.

Weird/Random things about me:

1. I have an issue with mice. I'm not afraid of spiders or snakes or lots of other yucky things but I do get squeamish around mice. My husband likes to tell the story of the time he came home to find me standing on a chair in the kitchen of our basement suite because our cat had brought a mouse into the house. I blame it on the fact that I grew up hearing the story of the mouse who ran up my Grandma's pant leg and I am terrified that will happen to me.

2. I love KitKat chocolate bars but I always eat them in exactly the same way. I break off each row and nibble the chocolate off from around the outside, then I eat the wafer - I know I'm weird!! Ryan says I should add in that it is weird that I can eat just HALF a chocolate bar and save the rest for later. Once he opens his, it's all gone!

3. I don't have a cell phone - sorry Sarah, I did copy you on this one but it is true that you and I are a minority these days. I also am really annoyed that payphones are obsolete. Sales clerks look at me like I'm from outer space if I ask if I can please use their phone. I was really thankful when Ryan got a cell phone from his work though, because it has saved me endless hours of pacing wondering if he was in a car accident or just stuck in traffic again!

4. On November 24, Ryan and I celebrated 15 years since the day he asked me out. We reenacted it for the kids who thought we were silly and cheesy, which we were, but that's ok! :) So all that to say that I've been in love with the most wonderful man in the world for almost half my life! Truth be known, I had the hugest crush on him for a year before he asked me out so it actually has been half my life. :)

5. I am a bookaholic! Seriously, I don't quite know what to do with myself if I don't have a book or two or three on the go. I love a good novel but I like to read non-fiction too. If I'm really interested in a topic or trying to solve a problem, I'll just request every book in the library about that subject. I don't end up reading most of them but I think there is something to that "learning through osmosis" thing. :) I just finished reading a nice tearjerker by Nicholas Sparks called "Dear John." Now I'm reading Jon Krakauer's "Under the Banner of Heaven," which is a non-fiction book about Mormon fundamentalism and Lee Strobel's "The Case for a Creator," which I highly recommend.

6. I don't watch tv. Honestly, I'm not exaggerating even. I don't know when it happened - I used to watch tv, not religiously but a few times a week anyway. I had my favourite shows but now I just don't watch television. I watch the occasional movie, sometimes even ones that aren't animated :) but I don't watch tv shows. It helps that we don't have cable because there's not much on the 5 or so english channels that we get (or the Japanese one). I think because I haven't watched much tv since we stopped getting cable 7 years ago, I have become "re-sensitized" and I just can't handle watching most of the junk that is on tv. Anyway, there's my little rant!

7. Don't think after reading number 6 that I don't have time wasting habits. I spend way too much time on the computer doing things that are completely unproductive (aka blogging and facebook.) For example, I am supposed to be writing our Christmas letter right now, and obviously I'm not!! Oh well, we all have our vices I guess!

I tag:

Elise

Carmen

Sandra

Laura

Karen

That's only 5 but since Sarah got away with it, I guess I can too. :)
