Playing Catch up

Ok, I have been a terrible blogger over the last month and I have a ton of pictures of things we have been doing over the holidays. I will try to pick and choose and not overwhelm you. :)
Here are a couple of shots from earlier in December just to show you what we like to do.

This is a train track that the kids built themselves. I have found these wooden train tracks to be the best toy investment of all time. I bought a box of assorted tracks and trains at a garage sale (thanks Bouman boys) when Evan was still a baby. We have gradually added to our collection over the years when we find a good deal. We don't buy the really expensive Brio brand ones or anything but most of the different kinds seem to fit together. Anyway, our kids go through stages where they don't really use them very often so I will put them away in the bin and then take them out in a month or two and it's like a brand new toy! They will spend hours building a track that goes exactly how they want it to, then they leave it up for a few days until it gets wrecked and they start over again, designing a new one.
Here's Grace in the school room, working on an art project that we all did together for Christmas. We made a collage nativity scene - very fun. I'm not a creative person at all but I have been forcing myself to get out of my comfort zone a little bit and find some ideas for art projects to do with the kids since they enjoy it and I don't want them to miss out on art just because their teacher is a completely linear, non-creative thinker! :)
Oops, the googly eyes didn't quite make it onto the paper. Evan wanted to make sure I did a post about this picture of him as a three-eyed monster since I did one of the picture of them as a two-headed monster. It seems our house in overrun with strange creatures!
