Pre-Christmas activities

Ok, I'm almost ready to post the Christmas pictures. There's just a few more of our pre-Christmas happenings first. :)
On Dec 22, Evan and Grace participated in a recital with some of the other students of their music teacher at Ebenezer Home (a senior citizen care centre in Abbotsford). They played a rhythm ensemble on bells, with another boy from their class. Then each of them played a piano solo. Grace was not sure she wanted to get up an do her piece in front of everyone but she did a great job (with a little encouragement, as you can see). It helped that the piano was not actually facing the audience!! :)

Later that evening, we went to our church's annual family skate. This evening has become a cherished family tradition for us. We enjoy getting out and skating but also getting to visit with many of our friends, especially those who are home for the holidays from far off Calgary!! :) I can't believe I forgot to take pictures while Jon and Carmen were at our house the night before the skate. But we did enjoy visiting with both of you (or should I say all three of you - heeheehee!)
Here are a couple of pics of gingerbread house making. Granny unknowingly started a tradition when she bought us a gingerbread kit last year. The kids insisted that we had to do that again this Christmas so I bought another kit (I'm not quite domestic enough to try forming proper gingerbread house walls from scratch!)

There's no pictures of the finished product because we had roof problems and had to do some major repairs and then prop it up until the icing dried.
Stay tuned for the next installment with actual Christmas pictures, to be posted tomorrow probably.
