We finished up and sent in the last of our paperwork to Shepherd Care last week. I have a couple of forms to finish filling out for immigration so that we will be ready when the time comes to bring our child home but other than that, we are just waiting now. Waiting to be chosen by a birthmother, waiting to know who our child will be, when they will be born, what they will look like. Many of the things we are wondering about are the things that are also unknowns in a pregnancy. The big difference here is that we have no idea how long our "pregnancy" will be. If you want to take the pregnancy comparison even further, you could say we have been "trying to get pregnant" for 2 years and now that we are expecting the "pregnancy" could last 2 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, even 18 months or longer!
Over the last year, when things have been difficult and I wonder if God is still calling us to this, if my heart is ready, if I can handle anymore hard times, if I can wait any longer, I have often found comfort in this song. It reminds me to keep on keeping on, serving God and waiting on His timing. In all of this, the lesson I have been learning is how to wait patiently, knowing that I serve the God who holds the universe in His hand. He knows who needs to be part of our family and when, so we will wait and trust.

God knows your desire to see this through, Christa and he knows your heart is already full of love for this beautiful child. The wait may be agonizing but will be completely worth it when you finally hold your little one. Keep praying and trusting and know that many people are praying for you, Ryan and the kids that you WILL be ready when the time comes.
Waiting can seem so long... hang in there, you'll be blessed beyone what you can imagine! If you need baby things, I may be done with ours in time for you to use some of them...
