Missions Week

Yesterday was the first day of Missions week at our church so it was time for the annual "parade of nations" where the kids (and some adults) dress up in costumes from different countries of the world and walk down the aisles of the church carrying flags from around the world. Here are some pics of the kids in their costumes. You can't really see Evan's very well. It's a shirt from Thailand I think. Grace is wearing a dress from India, which she picked because it was pink - of course! Rachel looked so sweet in the little silk jacket from China. I wore the kimono that our Japanese student gave me, but of course there's no pictures of me because I'm always behind the camera!

In the afternoon, we went to the wave pool - what a great family outing! I wish I could have had my camera in there, but you'll just have to use your imagination! Evan and Grace are quite good swimmers now so we don't have to worry about them as much, although I still get nervous in water, especially with so many people in the pool. I feel much more comfortable if they are within arm's reach - just in case. They loved going down the big waterslide and jumping into the water from the rope swing. Rachel still needs to be held but she had lots of fun and she is starting to get the hang of putting her face in the water and kicking her legs, which is good because she starts her first set of swimming lessons next week. :)
We had lots of fun at the pool and we also enjoyed the benefits at bedtime. There's nothing like a couple of hours in the pool to wear everyone out and help them get a good sleep!

Ahh Missions Week! I hope it goes well and that there's 'freshness' to how its all presented. There's nothing I loathe more than stale missions stuff...its just so much more exciting than that!
Anywho...have a great week, and sorry, I can't really help you with lunch ideas since we're both bagged lunch kinda people these days!

What do you eat in your bagged lunches? Do you have any creative sandwich toppings?

Gaileen Warden was speaking in the service yesterday and what she had to say was great. We are doing the international cafe again this year, which is fun but the response has not been great for volunteers so I think maybe a change is needed. We'll see how it goes.
Take care,

i love missions week!!!!!!!! ooooh how fun!! i was glad to be a sudnay school teacher and dress up even though i was no longer a one of the kids! heehe.

Lunches...hmm...honestly i feel a bit the same about having no creative lunch ideas....we usually eat left overs. often i just set out cheese, grapes/apples, various veggies, crackers/bread. (since Julia eats sandwiches by taking them apart layer by layer, i just skip the work of constructing the 'wich and let her eat all the ingredients separately.)

if i am on the 'ball' (meaning people are coming over for lunch)...then i sometimes cut the cheese with small cookie cutters so it is in fun shapes...

other than that. we are pretty boring lunch folk. just eat what ever is good for us in the house. haha.

loves.
