Boundary Bay

After we got home from the Kootenays, we spent one day at home doing laundry and errands and then headed out to Point Roberts to stay at a cabin at Boundary Bay.
This is the fourth year Grandma has rented the cabin for all of us to vacation out at the Bay. It's a special tradition for me because I grew up going out to Boundary Bay to stay at my Uncle Dave and Auntie Arlee's cabin in the summers and so did my Mom and my Grandma. Now Uncle Dave and Auntie Arlee are gone and we can't go there any more but I love that I can share my memories of Boundary Bay with my kids.
When I was a kid there was a candy store called "Clark's" in Boundary Bay but it has been shut down. I guess going to the cabin just isn't the same without a candy store so my cousins, Laura and Byron, decided that they needed to open their own. Their entrepreneurial enthusiasm was contagious and Evan, Grace and Rachel got right into it too. They made signs advertising what they were selling and how much it cost, then they set up their little booth on the beach and practised until some customers came along. They took turns selling, assisting, advertising (sitting on the seawall and yelling "Candy for sale!"), and taking breaks to play on the sand bars. I have to admit, they surpassed my expectations. They made enough money before the first day was finished, to pay me back the $25 I had spent at Costco to buy the candy. Then the second day was all profit for them!

On Thursday, Ange, Cam and Trey came out to spend the day with us at the Bay. We had fun visiting with them out there. Trey was playing camera shy but not Evan and Cam, they're a couple of hams! :)
Auntie Debby brought out a box of old dressup clothes which provided hours of entertainment for everyone! Evan loved the clown wig so much that he wore it almost all day. If you look closely at the pictures below of us on the sand bars, you can see he even wore it out there. :)
I know these collage pictures appear kind of small on the screen but if you click on it, you can see it bigger.

Oops, I guess I forgot to rotate this one, sorry!
Here are some pictures of our mega-castle. It wasn't so much a castle as a platform, designed to keep us on land longer than anyone else as the tide came in. It worked! I hope you can see the progression from when we started digging until we headed in to shore and left Byron and the Crocodile on the little island. :)

Enjoying pie for dessert.
All five grandkids on Grandma's lap (or as close as they could get), enjoying story time.

Smores!
My precious Rachel girl. She's the only one who stays still long enough to pose for me these days. She loves to ham it up for the camera!
There you have it, part two of Rachwalski summer vacation pictures. Hopefully you're not bored to tears now! :)
