Camping fun

Camping is one of the summer traditions that we just can't do without. Last summer we tried and our kids protested! This year, our favourite campsite was booked for the week we wanted to camp so we tried something new. We went to Weaver Lake, a forestry campsite up near Hemlock mountain. It was a nice little lake, warm for swimming and fun for canoeing and we got there on a Thursday so we got a decent campsite, but there were lots of sites that were really tiny or not in great locations and by Saturday, they were all full. Because it is a pretty steep, gravel road to get up to Weaver, the web site recommends a 4x4 vehicle to get there. We didn't have any trouble in Ryan's little pickup, but I wouldn't have wanted to take my van. Apparently, this lake attracts what I would call the 4x4 crowd, because by Saturday evening the atmosphere was louder, and more obnoxious, and the smell of pot was more potent. Other than the noisy nights, we did enjoy our time there, but I think we'll try another lake next summer.
