Summer recap

Oh boy, the summer has just flown by. I thought I would have time to update the blog over the summer while we weren't doing school but we've been way too busy having fun enjoying the summer! :) Now school is about to start and I've been caught up with planning for the new school year in two areas. I have been planning my year with my own kids as well as preparing for my new role as teacher of a kindergarten/grade 1 class. Starting in October, I will be teaching one morning a week at the homeschool class we are a part of. I am excited about this job but also slightly anxious about the responsibility. I feel very under-qualified for the position, and grateful that it was given to me, despite there being more educated individuals who were interested. Because of this, I feel a certain pressure to prove myself (not that anyone but me is putting pressure on!)

Anyway, I've managed to get way off track. I intended this post to be just a bunch of pictures of our summer. Feel free to stop reading now, if you want. I'm mostly posting these for myself because I really do enjoy looking back over this blog and reminiscing about the things we've done. I haven't scrapbooked in ages, so blogging is my way of recording my memories.

I'll start off with Canada Day because that's when summer's really supposed to start, even though it seemed like November this year! Oh well, at least people got a chance to wear their Olympic hoodies and mitts to the parade!! :) We started the day off delivering papers (no pictures of that!) then headed off to the parade, which was mediocre but at least the kids got their candy. then we headed to friends' for lunch, swimming (for the brave) and hockey. After that, it was dinner at Mom's house and off to the fireworks. A great day, despite the cold!

Thanks for posting those Canada Day pics!! We sure had a great time with everyone.

Christa, I know that you are going to do a wonderful job with those little ones at the resource center. Your love for God and for children is evident, I know it will shine through as you bless the families that are coming.
